Bureaucratic Reform Demands Quality Data Presentation and Excellent Service

The Statistic Indonesia-BPS has set forth demands for bureaucratic reform, which include the provision of quality data, improved excellent service, and the establishment of good governance and clean government.

To meet these demands, all levels of Statistic Indonesia-BPS leadership in the regions must hold a Regional Technical Meeting (Ratekda) for Statistic Indonesia-BPS leaders of districts and cities in South Kalimantan in 2014. This initiative aims to align vision and steps to achieve bureaucratic reform through enhanced data quality and excellent service.

The Ratekda was held at the Aria Hotel in Banjarmasin from February 24 to 27, 2014, under the theme “Through Bureaucratic Reform, We Improve Data Quality and Excellent Service.” The event was officially opened by M. Ari Nugraha, the Director of Statistical Dissemination at Statistic Indonesia-BPS.

In the speech delivered on behalf of the Head of Statistic Indonesia-BPS, Ari Nugraha addressed 118 participants from South Kalimantan, highlighting that 2014 presents numerous challenges related to bureaucratic reform (RB) that must be addressed. To improve Statistic Indonesia-BPS's reform achievements, a shift in mindset from business-as-usual to out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and innovation is necessary to complete tasks more effectively and efficiently, resulting in higher-quality outputs. There is also a need to improve the work culture, making it more disciplined and productive.

In 2014, three main focuses of RB must be pursued: enhancing public service quality, reorganizing statistical operational procedures, and improving human resources quality. Ensuring the success of these initiatives requires a collective commitment from all levels of Statistic Indonesia-BPS to operate transparently and free from corrupt practices.

As a concrete effort to combat corruption, on February 10, 2014, BPS initiated the Integrity Zone Development program. This significant achievement must be followed up promptly to establish Statistic Indonesia-BPS units with the designation of Corruption-Free Area (WBK) and Clean and Serving Bureaucracy (WBBM).

At the conclusion of his speech, Ari Nugraha emphasized the importance of maintaining the essence of the Ratekda event, ensuring that it is conducted effectively and efficiently to produce beneficial outputs for the development of Statistic Indonesia-BPS in the short, medium, and long term.

At the end of the Ratekda event, Dyan Pramono Effendi and M. Ari Nugraha presented Certificates of Appreciation for the Best Performance in 2013 to the heads of district/city Statistic Indonesia-BPS and their respective staff, as a token of gratitude for their achievements over the past year.
