Official Statistics Release: "South Kalimantan's Economic Growth in 2016" The Head of Statistic of South Kalimantan Province, Diah Utami, accompanied by the Head of the Regional Accounts and Statistical Analysis Division, Awang Pramila, presented South Kalimantan's 2016 economic growth report during a press release held in the video conference room on Monday (Feb 6). The event was attended by members of the media and representatives from various government agencies within the province.
Diah Utami highlighted that South Kalimantan's economy in the fourth quarter of 2016, as measured by its Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), reached IDR 37.72 trillion. From a business sector perspective, the largest contribution came from the mining and quarrying sector (21.37%). On the expenditure side, household consumption was the primary driver of GRDP growth, accounting for 47.23%.
Compared to the same period in the previous year, South Kalimantan's economy grew by 5.28 percent. However, a 1.61 percent contraction was recorded when compared to the previous quarter. In terms of production, the manufacturing industry contributed the most to growth, adding 0.81 percent. Meanwhile, from an expenditure perspective, the largest growth driver was domestic consumption, particularly household consumption, contributing 2.25 percent.
Overall, South Kalimantan’s economy grew by 4.38 percent throughout 2016. (MY)
