Training Activities for Susenas March 2021 in South Kalimantan Province

February 16, 2021 | BPS Activities

From February 2 to 4, 2021, a National Instructor Training (Innas) for the March 2021 Susenas (National Socioeconomic Survey) was conducted by the Statistic Indonesia-BPS. The Statistic of South Kalimantan Province sent 15 participants to serve as Innas, comprising 13 individuals from various BPS offices across South Kalimantan and 2 from the Provincial BPS. Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the training was conducted virtually. Despite the limitations, the training proceeded effectively. The aim of this training was to ensure that the instructors understood the survey concepts and could convey this knowledge to field officers, thereby producing high-quality data that accurately reflects real conditions.

Following the Innas training, field officer training was scheduled at each BPS office from February 15 to 28, 2021, lasting three days of effective training. The training model was divided into two modes: face-to-face (offline) and virtual (online) training. Five counties/cities opted for virtual training, while eight counties/cities conducted in-person sessions. This choice was determined by Statistic Indonesia-BPS based on local internet coverage data, with areas having over 50% coverage participating virtually, and those below 50% engaging in face-to-face training.

Susenas is a crucial and strategic survey conducted biannually (every March and September) by BPS. The objective of this survey is to capture the welfare conditions of the population across various aspects, including education, health, housing, environmental sanitation, and household expenditures, among others. Additionally, Susenas is one of the BPS surveys that features a significant number of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) indicators. The SDGs indicators generated from Susenas are expected to serve as valuable data for the general public, researchers, academia, and policymakers in planning for national development in Indonesia.
