Deputy for Statistical Data of Statistic Indonesia-BPS Visits South Kalimantan

Banjarmasin – The Deputy for National Statistics and Statistical Analysis (NAS) of the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Moh. Edy Mahmud, conducted a supervisory visit for the update of statistical working areas (Wilkerstat) and the Cost of Living Survey (SBH) over two days (March 18-19) in South Kalimantan Province.

On the first day of the visit, Moh. Edy Mahmud, accompanied by the Acting Head of Statistic of Barito Kuala Regency, Najwa Dauli, directly observed the implementation of the Wilkerstat update in the Alalak District of Barito Kuala Regency. Present from the Staistic of South Kalimantan Province were the Head of General Affairs, Ahmad Mudzakkir; Senior Statistician Coordinator of Production Statistics, Rismanto; and Senior Statistician Coordinator of Distribution Statistics, Fachri Ubadiyah.

In addition to providing guidance on maintaining the quality of the Wilkerstat update, Moh. Edy Mahmud engaged in discussions with field staff and responsible officers regarding challenges and feedback related to the Wilkerstat update activities. The Deputy also motivated the staff to complete their tasks effectively and on time.

On the second day, the supervision continued with a meeting involving SBH officers and Wilkerstat staff from Banjarmasin City. The meeting was attended by the Head of Statistic of Banjarmasin City (Akhmad Rusihannoor) and Senior Statistician Coordinator of Distribution Statistics (Fachri Ubadiyah). The NAS Deputy emphasized the importance of data collected through the SBH as a basis for calculating inflation, urging officers to develop a "sense" to understand the consumption patterns of each household respondent. “Record the consumption of household respondents as realistically as possible,” said the NAS Deputy.

On the same day, Moh. Edy Mahmud had the opportunity to provide guidance during the reconciliation of Wilkerstat in front of the staff from North Banjarmasin District. The Deputy advised the staff to carry out the updates according to the established procedures.

The visit to South Kalimantan felt like a homecoming for this senior BPS official. Although originally from Tegal, he has lived in Banjarmasin for over 20 years. Prior to his promotion to Deputy, Edy Mahmud served as the Head of Statistic of South Kalimantan Province. (Public Relations Team)
