Data Synchronization of Food Crops and Horticulture

Banjarbaru – The Head of the Statistic of South Kalimantan Province, Yos Rusdiansyah, accompanied by the Coordinator of Production Statistics, Rismanto, attended the Data Synchronization Meeting for Food Crops and Horticulture on Friday, March 25, 2022. The meeting took place in the Auditorium of the Agricultural Office for Food Crops and Horticulture (TPH) of South Kalimantan Province and was attended by Heads of BPS from various regencies and cities, as well as Heads of TPH Offices at the regency and city levels.

In his opening remarks, the Head of the TPH Office of South Kalimantan Province, Syamsir Rahman, emphasized that South Kalimantan is one of Indonesia's rice granaries. Therefore, fluctuations in rice production in the region will draw attention both locally and nationally. He noted that discrepancies in production figures between the TPH Office and BPS arise from differences in the methods used to calculate harvested areas, with BPS employing the Area Sampling Frame (KSA) method. Consequently, a clear understanding of rice harvest area calculations using the KSA method is necessary.

Before the presentation session began, Syamsir Rahman presented an award from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia to BPS, recognizing it and the TPH Office for achieving the fourth-best rating in national horticultural statistical data management.

Subsequently, Yos Rusdiansyah, along with Rismanto, provided a detailed explanation of the survey conducted using the KSA method. The participants showed great enthusiasm for learning about the KSA survey. Heads of TPH Offices from various regencies and cities expressed their hopes for continued collaboration with BPS in collecting rice production data. BPS welcomed the invitation to work together in generating high-quality data for the welfare of farmers and food security. (Public Relations Team)
