Institute of Statistics (STIS) Opens Admissions for Academic Year 2014/2015
The Institute of Statistics (STIS), previously known as the Academy of Statistics (AIS), has been a key public academic institution under Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS) since 1958. This year, STIS invites passionate young Indonesians with a keen interest in statistics to join its ranks and train to become professional statisticians.
STIS offers a four-year Diploma IV (D-IV) program structured in a semester credit system (SKS) and features two departments: Statistics and Statistical Computing. Within the Statistics department, students can further specialize in either Economic Statistics or Population and Social Statistics. Graduates of STIS earn the title of Bachelor of Applied Science (SST).
For the 2014/2015 academic year, STIS will admit new students through two pathways: the Government Service Pathway and the Study Assignment Pathway for Non-BPS Institutions.
- Government Service Pathway: This selection path is open to high school science stream (IPA) graduates. Students accepted through this pathway will be employed as Civil Servant Candidates (CPNS) in Group III/a upon graduation and will be assigned to Statistic Indonesia-BPS units across Indonesia, including local offices at the district and city levels. Students benefit from tuition-free education and receive a service-bound stipend (allowance) during their studies. They are bound by a service agreement to work with BPS for a period double their study length following graduation.
- Study Assignment Pathway for Non-Statistic Indonesia-BPS Institutions**: This selection path is intended for current government employees, including civil servants, permanent employees in state-owned enterprises (BUMN/BUMD), or members of the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) or Police (POLRI), who hold high school science diplomas and are sponsored by their agencies to study at STIS. Tuition is covered by the sponsoring agency.
For detailed requirements, important schedules, and additional announcements, applicants should regularly check the STIS admissions website and visit the SPMB STIS application portal to begin the registration process.
