Inauguration of the Statistics Corner at Lambung Mangkurat University

Banjarbaru – The Statistics Corner at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) was officially inaugurated by the Principal Secretary of Statistic Indonesia-BPS, Atqo Mardiyanto, and the Rector of ULM on Thursday, June 9, 2022. This is the 11th Statistics Corner established across Indonesia.

The Principal Secretary expressed his admiration, noting that unlike typical corners located within a room or area of a building, this Statistics Corner at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) is housed in a sturdy standalone building, almost resembling an office.

"The Statistics Corner is one of Statistic Indonesia's initiatives to bring statistical services closer to the public. According to surveys, one of the largest groups of data users is academics or students. With the Statistics Corner, they don’t have to struggle to find data. It’s readily available, and we are collaborating with ULM to provide this space so that the public, not only students and lecturers but also members of the media, can easily access it," Atqo explained.

ULM Rector Sutarto Hadi also welcomed this collaboration between BPS and ULM, recognizing the benefits of the Statistics Corner for both faculty and students. ULM readily provided a facility to transform into the Statistics Corner.

The inauguration ceremony was followed by a public lecture from the BPS Principal Secretary titled, "Synergy and Collaboration between Academia and National Statistics in Facing the Era of Disruption: Regional and Global Perspectives." The ULM Rector, along with deans, lecturers, and students, also attended the lecture.
