BPS Presents Food Price Inflation Data

Banjarbaru – The Head of Statistic of South Kalimantan Province, Yos Rusdiansyah, presented food price inflation data during a limited meeting on essential goods affecting inflation in South Kalimantan. The meeting took place in the H. Abrani Sulaiman Conference Room at the Secretariat Building of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government on Wednesday, June 22, 2022.

In the first five months of 2022, Indonesia faced rising prices of essential goods, a hot issue nationwide. This phenomenon also occurred in South Kalimantan, where the increase in these prices triggered inflation. This trend was reflected in the monthly inflation data released by BPS.

Another speaker from Bank Indonesia, represented by Bimo Epyanto, explained the causes of inflation, including the geopolitical conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has disrupted the availability of several commodities.

Participants at the meeting included representatives from Bappeda (Regional Development Planning Board), the Department of Communication and Information Technology, the Department of Food Security, the Department of Trade, the Department of Food Crops and Horticulture, the Department of Marine and Fisheries, the Department of Plantations and Livestock, as well as the host, the Economic Affairs Bureau of the South Kalimantan Provincial Secretariat.

The Head of Statistic of South Kalimantan was accompanied by Fachri Ubadiyah, the Coordinator of the Distribution Statistics Function, and Abdurrahman, a staff member in the Distribution Statistics Function.
