Socialization of the 2022 Cost of Living Survey in South Kalimantan

June 30, 2022 | BPS Activities

Banjarbaru – In order to update the base year for calculating the Consumer Price Index (CPI), BPS designed the 2022 Cost of Living Survey (SBH) with the goal of producing a new set of commodities and weighting diagrams for CPI calculation. One of the key activities of the 2022 SBH is the Socialization of the 2022 Cost of Living Survey. In South Kalimantan, this socialization event took place on Thursday, June 30, 2022, at the Auditorium on the 3rd floor of the Statistic of South Kalimantan Province Office.

The socialization meeting featured three speakers: Yos Rusdiansyah, S.E., M.M (Head of Statistic of South Kalimantan Province), Hj. Raudatul Jannah, SKM, M.Kes. (Head of the Economic Bureau of the South Kalimantan Provincial Government), and Rakhmat Pratama (Head of the Public Relations Unit at Bank Indonesia, South Kalimantan Representative Office). The event was moderated by Fachri Ubadiyah, S.E., M.P from STatistic of South Kalimantan Province.

Participants included representatives from institutions that are part of the Regional Inflation Control Team (TPID) of South Kalimantan Province, such as Bappeda, the Department of Trade, the Department of Industry, the Department of Plantations and Livestock, Bulog, Pertamina, and others. Also in attendance were the heads of BPS district and city offices participating in the SBH, including Banjarmasin City, Kotabaru Regency, Tabalong Regency, Hulu Sungai Tengah Regency, and Tanah Laut Regency.

“Inflation in maintaining economic stability is like salt in cooking. It must be present in the right amount. If there's too much or too little, it will affect the flavor of the dish. The same applies to inflation. Inflation must be controlled to ensure economic growth. Therefore, support from all sectors, including the provincial government's departments and related agencies, is necessary to maintain inflation,” said Raudatul Jannah. This sentiment was echoed by the representative from Bank Indonesia, who stressed that the central and regional governments must consistently coordinate and work together to maintain inflation stability.

Meanwhile, in his presentation, Yos Rusdiansyah provided a general overview of the 2022 SBH, including updates on the field activities, challenges faced, and solutions that have been implemented. The discussion and Q&A session were lively, with active participation from the attendees, who offered input and support for inflation control efforts in South Kalimantan Province.
