FGD on Sectoral Statistics Held by BPS South Kalimantan Province

Banjarmasin, November 28, 2024 – The South Kalimantan Province Statistics Office (BPS) held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on sectoral statistics development through the update of the Input-Output Simulator, which took place today. The event was attended by representatives from 35 Regional Government Organizations (OPDs) within the South Kalimantan Provincial Government and was officially opened by the Head of BPS South Kalimantan Province.

The main objective of this FGD was to strengthen the quality of data and statistical analysis to support regional development planning in South Kalimantan. The Head of BPS South Kalimantan Province emphasized the importance of collaboration between BPS and OPDs in sectoral statistics development to generate policies based on accurate and reliable data.

This FGD featured competent speakers in their respective fields. Aldy Firdaus from the Department of Communication and Information (Diskominfo) presented on the Data Ecosystem of South Kalimantan, highlighting the importance of collaboration between institutions to build a more integrated data ecosystem. Additionally, two senior statisticians from BPS South Kalimantan Province, Najwa Dauli, who also serves as the Chair of the Sectoral Statistics Development Team, and Tita Rosy, shared insights on the use of the Input-Output Simulator to support data-driven policy decision-making.

Najwa Dauli explained that the Input-Output Simulator is a crucial tool in updating data, enabling a more in-depth analysis of the relationships between sectors in the regional economy. This is expected to provide a clearer picture of the impact of policies on the economy of South Kalimantan.

Through this event, BPS South Kalimantan Province aims to strengthen the synergy between BPS and OPDs, as well as enhance the capacity of sectoral statistics management in the region, which will ultimately support more effective, data-driven development planning.
