Paddy Harvested Area and Production in Kalimantan Selatan Province 2023

Since 2018, BPS has collaborated with the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN) which has now merged into the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (Ministry of ATR/BPN ), and the Geospatial Information Agency (BIG) seeks to improve the methodology for calculating rice harvest area through the application of objective measurements by utilizing advances in information and communication technology and the availability of high-resolution satellite imagery. This collaboration was realized in an activity entitled "Integrated Food Crop Agricultural Statistics Data Collection Using the Area Sample Frame (KSA) Method" or better known as the KSA Survey.Based on the results of the KSA Survey, in 2023, the rice harvest area will reach around 214.28 thousand hectares or a decrease of 625.09 hectares (0.29 percent) compared to 2022. Meanwhile, rice production in 2023 is 875.55 thousand tons of dry milled grain (GKG). If converted into rice, rice production in 2023 will reach around 518.04 thousand tons, or an increase of 33.21 thousand tons (6.85 percent) compared to rice production in 2022.
