Banjarbaru – Enhancing Agricultural Exports in South Kalimantan
On September 14, 2022, Yos Rusdiansyah, Head of the Statistic of South Kalimantan Province, attended a Coordination Meeting on Enhancing and Accelerating Agricultural Product Exports in South Kalimantan Province. The meeting was held in the H. Maksid Meeting Room at the South Kalimantan Provincial Government Office and was led by Special Staff Assistant for Economic and Development Affairs, Ir. Fathurrahman. It was also attended by the Head of the Economic Bureau, Ina Yuliani, S.Sos, M.Si., MIP., representing the Secretary of the Region who was unable to attend, along with representatives from related agencies and the Ministry of Agriculture’s Technical Implementation Units (UPT).
The meeting featured a presentation by Drh. Nur Hartanto, M.M., Head of the Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine Center, who discussed the formation of the Export Improvement Team through the Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 19 of 2019 on the Development of Agricultural Commodity Exports, followed by Governor's Decree No. 188.44/0553/KUM/2021.
As a concrete effort to accelerate the export of agricultural commodities, the Banjarmasin Agricultural Quarantine Center is implementing the "Threefold Agricultural Export Movement" (GraTIEks) strategy. This includes inter-agency cooperation, activity alignment, technical guidance, public campaigning, as well as monitoring and evaluation. New flagship export commodities expected to be produced in South Kalimantan include porang, gulinggang, and swift nests. The success of GraTIEks requires synergy among all entities involved, including farmers, the private sector, local governments, and the Ministry of Agriculture.
Additionally, to monitor the acceleration of export enhancement, the Ministry of Agriculture has developed the i-MACE (Indonesian Map of Agricultural Commodities Export) application, which is useful for mapping potential export commodity regions. The application provides information on export volumes by sector, target export countries, upstream and downstream commodity exports, export trends over the last three years, and locations of export commodities.
Following the presentation, the meeting continued with reports from related agencies, followed by discussions that engaged all attendees, including the Head of BPS South Kalimantan, who provided data on commodity exports in the region.
