Pembataan, Tabalong – On Monday, August 29, 2022, a Coordination Meeting on Economic Growth (LPE) in South Kalimantan was held at the Tabalong District Hall. The event, organized by the Regional Development Planning Agency (Bappeda) of South Kalimantan Province, was facilitated by the Tabalong Bappedalitbang as the host. It was attended by heads and economic division heads from Bappeda/Bappedalitbang/Bappelitbang/Bappelitbangda across 13 districts and cities, along with resource persons from the Statistic of South Kalimantan Province and the Head of Bappeda South Kalimantan Province.

The meeting was opened by the Deputy Regent of Tabalong, Drs. H. Mawardi M.Si, followed by presentations from the Head of Statistic of South Kalimantan Province and the Head of Bappeda South Kalimantan Province. Focusing on the theme of economic development in South Kalimantan, the coordination meeting proceeded with a lively discussion.

Yos Rusdiansyah, SE, MM, the Head of Statistic of South Kalimantan Province, outlined the dynamics of the economy in South Kalimantan, particularly the factors influencing economic growth during the pandemic and the subsequent fallout from the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He explained that despite global pressures, the economies of South Kalimantan's trading partner countries continued to grow, resulting in unexpected windfall profits due to rising prices of key export commodities such as coal. Furthermore, the easing of mobility restrictions during the Covid-19 pandemic contributed to economic growth. In conclusion, Yos Rusdiansyah provided several recommendations for advancing the economy in South Kalimantan.

In addition, Dr. Ir. Ariadi Noor, M.Si, the Head of Bappeda South Kalimantan Province, presented the economic policy direction for South Kalimantan online. He elaborated on the economic transformation concerning the current situation of South Kalimantan's key commodities, which are highly vulnerable to global economic conditions. Therefore, changes in the agricultural and tourism sectors, as well as the need for downstream processing and industrial development, were emphasized. Ariadi Noor also discussed the mapping of superior commodities for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) in South Kalimantan, aiming for UMKM to contribute to the local economy in the future. Finally, he addressed the Regional Macro Economic Framework (KEMD) in South Kalimantan to enhance the capacity and quality of regional development planning.

After a Q&A session, at the end of the event, the Head of the Tabalong Bappedalitbang, who also served as the moderator, Ir. H. Noor Rifani, SH, MT, expressed his appreciation for the insights and information shared by the speakers, which are particularly valuable for regional development planning related to enhancing economic growth in South Kalimantan.
