Exciting Participation in the Online Population Census

Exciting Participation in the Online Population Census

February 18, 2020 | BPS Activities

Enthusiasm is the perfect word to describe the Coordination Meeting of the Population Census Working Group (Pokja) held at the Roditha Hotel in Banjarbaru on Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Approximately 98 representatives from local government agencies and institutions eagerly engaged in filling out the Online Population Census at the website [http://sensus.bps.go.id](http://sensus.bps.go.id).

This event was initiated by the Statistic of South Kalimantan Province. Each participant was given the opportunity to complete the online census under the guidance of Nurul Sabah, Head of the Social Statistics Division, and Dudi Barmana, Head of the IPDS Division. Prior to the event, participants were informed to bring their family cards, ID cards, and marriage/divorce certificate numbers.

The meeting aimed to socialize the procedures for filling out the 2020 Online Population Census. Attendees will be part of the working group team for the Online Population Census, serving as boosters for the census outreach efforts. Their task is to disseminate the understanding of the 2020 Population Census and how to fill out the online census to their colleagues.

In her speech, Diah Utami, Head of the Statistic of South Kalimantan Province, emphasized the importance of conducting the Population Census as part of the national vision of "One Data on Population in Indonesia." This aligns with President Jokowi's remarks during the 2016 Coordination Meeting at the Presidential Palace, highlighting that the confusion of data from various ministries and agencies is one of the reasons for suboptimal government policy implementation.

At the end of her speech, Diah Utami urged all participants to contribute to the success of the 2020 Population Census. She also encouraged them to share this information with family and neighbors. “If possible, let’s provide assistance. Our collective participation will determine the success of the Online Population Census.” (ma2n)
